Just Catching Up

So, the weekend was great. On Friday, we went to the baseball game for awhile. We left after the 7th inning stretch because it was 2-0, we we were down and we had to wake up early the next morning. Plus, we had stuff to do before we went home. We went to our friends, Nick & Jane's house to pick out some raffle prizes for our car show. Jane is an amazing artist. She paints on sawblades, or whatever, really, mostly wildlife and scenery. We picked out 3 that we liked, 2 for raffles and one Royce just had to have for himself. Then she threw in another for us to use as a raffle! I think they will make great raffle prizes. They'll have to be individual raffles though. We want the people who win them to truly cherish them, we know how much time went into these things!!!

Saturday was Coalville's Super Cruise, with JC Hackett. Royce and I helped sell T-shirts again this year, with Bob & Weezie. We did it 2 years ago and were really looking forward to doing it again. We love that people as amazing as JC, Janice, Bob and Weezie rely on us to help with their shows! It really is an honor. The show turned out great. It was hot, but it wasn't miserable. They had a good turn out, though I don't really know the final count. Pictures will be on http://wrac2010.shutterfly.com/ later today.
Sunday, I slept in. Until Royce called and invited me to breakfast with him and his dad. So "I jumped out of bed, dragged a comb through my head" and took care of the dogs and I rushed to meet them at Karen's Cafe. That's about as exciting as my Sunday got. We watched a couple movies, got a little laundry done, and just relaxed. Exactly what I needed!
And today is Monday. I've done everything I need to do at work, including catching up on my blog-stalking and make another diaper cake. I really do work, people!! I also just happen to have down-time when students are asking questions or needing help.
Anyways, the diaper cake is for an ex-co-worker, Soquel. She trained me at UOP and we've stayed in touch since she left probably 2 years ago. The cake didn't turn out quite how I wanted, but I made do with what I had. See, I really liked the "cute as a button" cake I did last time, and I had left-over ribbon. So that's what I had planned when I bought the blue and yellow binkies. But, when I opened the diapers I bought, I realized that they were patterned diapers. They had purple and/or green dots and/or stripes. Didn't quite go with what I had planned. But I just did what I could and patterned the diapers and still used the ribbons I had. It's a little more gawdy than I would have planned, but not too shabby, considering it was done in a rush this morning at work so I can take it to Soquel at lunch today!!!

Baby Cakes

It seems like everyone around me is having babies! I hate getting the same old gift everytime, so I decided to try the diaper cakes I'd seen around. My first one was for my classmate. He had a baby girl, so it's pink and sweet, made of diapers and baby necessities such as a bottle, baby wash, desitin, teething ring and binkies. The picture isn't great, just a cellphone shot.
And I just finished my second one for a co-worker. She's having a boy, so it's baseball-themed. And I had to add Hershey's Kisses... just 'cuz she always had them on her desk when she worked with me.
