Motherhood and all it's bliss

Motherhood truly is everything I hoped it would be. AND MORE! There are certain things you go into motherhood prepared for. Things you expect. And then there are these moments:

"Hudson! How many times do I have to tell you?! DO NOT BITE MY TOE!!!"

The lovely mark on my belly from a froot loop falling down my dress sometime before work and not being found for some 10 hours...

The nipple bleeding that I wasn't even aware of until the next morning.

Ahhh, the joys of motherhood!!

"When people go to work, they shouldn't have to leave their hearts at home.” --Betty Bender

"When people go to work, they shouldn't have to leave their hearts at home.” --Betty Bender

This quote is exactly how I feel. I hate going to work. I hate my job. And, honestly, I don't care much for half the people I work with. I have hit the breaking point. The University of Phoenix is not a terrible place to work, in fact, it's been a great place for me to work while I completed my degrees, but now is the time to put those degrees to use. The University has been going through a lot of changes lately, with major "re-organization" resulting in lots of layoffs. As a whole the University of Phoenix will be "phasing out" more than half of their ground campuses, again, resulting in layoffs. As it stands right now, my little learning center in Clearfield, UT, will be untouched, but 2 other Utah campuses will be closing. I just want out. I have to be grateful that I have a job. And, again, it really isn't a bad job. It's just not the right job for me anymore. My heart is at home. I have nothing to love or be passionate about here anymore. My heart is with kids.

For a brief moment yesterday, my heart was at work, because I got to plan a Halloween party for the employee's kids. I enjoy these times. I love seeing my co-workers in their family roles. I love meeting their children and enjoy making these visits to mom/dad's work memorable and fun. But these brief moments just aren't enough for me anymore. I want to plan these kinds of fun activities every day for my classroom! I want to bring my heart to work with me every day.

Went to bed pissed, woke up pissed on

not literally!
So, Royce and I have fun ideas for our Halloween costumes for BurgerStop. But we are getting a late start on them and there is a Halloween-style cruise tonight, and a Halloween party this weekend. Royce hoped to get his done last night, but didn't. So before bed, we started talking about what to do for tonight's cruise night. See, Hudson has a handful of different costumes handed down from his cousin, plus the one for BurgerStop. He has a dinosaur, a Tigger, a monkey and a puppy. I suggested that Royce and I go as-is and just put Hudson in his puppy costume. But, of course, Royce wants to wear his Scooby Doo costume. Fine and dandy and I'm glad he likes dressing up... but WHAT ABOUT ME?? Velma? I don't think so. First of all, everything I had for that costume just doesn't fit right anymore. Plus, without the whole crew, my outfit doesn't even make sense. We learned that several years ago when the whole gang went as the Scooby Doo crew. It's a group thing. Then, Royce suggests "you could go as a dog walker." Really? I don't think so. A costume is more than freaking props, a couple of empty leashes ain't gonna cut it. So I stomp off to bed, pissed. And then it comes to me. A FIRE HYDRANT!! Make a point, (or two*) and get to dress up. I think so. So that is my plans at work today, assemble a fire hydrant costume. I told Royce to get Scooby ready and I would fit in but didn't tell him my idea. Sure hope he likes it!

*point 1- Piss on me, piss on you, don't piss me off!
*point 2- another disagreement we had- my "just buying" my costume (in several different pieces and searching town for each piece... "just") and his MAKING a costume. You want me to make it, fine, I'll make it. See, anything you can do, I can do too.
