A Bedtime Story

The other night, I said to Royce, "You're going to read this kiddo to sleep, right?" And he answered, "No. Unless I can use my StreetScene magazine..." It's kind of been bugging me. Surely he will actually read to our baby boy, right? Granted, he's never been a reader, but seriously, he can handle a kid's picture book, right? I honestly don't know. I hope so. I truly do.

Maybe if I got him something like this?

“The cats nestle close to their kittens.

The lambs have laid down with the sheep.

You're cozy and warm in your bed, my dear

Please go the f@#k to sleep.”

So full of feelings

Watched this video clip in class last night. Nearly made me cry. I have a good cry building up in me. So many amazing, beautiful, frightening feelings and thoughts going through my head.

Royce will be such a great daddy!

I forgot to make a note last week. Last Wednesday, I skipped class to go to dinner with my folks. Afterwards, I met Royce at a car show. I called him to tell him I was on my way and he told me "Good. 'Cuz we need help finding all these Easter Eggs!" I laughed and figured it was him and Weezie looking for them. But when I showed up and found him, our friends' 4-year-old little girl, Ashley, ran up to him and said "C'mon! We have to find more!" and took his hand and led him away. I trailed behind them thinking, "awww! He could have handled a little girl!" Just made my heart giddy. :)

Today, he called me after a job to tell me about the cute little boy who wanted to hang out in the garage with him. He used the word "adorable." Again, a giddy heart.

I can't wait to see him doing these things with our son!

Ready to Play!

I am soooo ready to play! Ready for sunshine, car shows, boating and baseball!

Luckily, the car shows are starting. I will be at a cruise night tonight, a car show this weekend, and next week, we leave for an National Street Rod Association (NSRA) show in Bakersfield, CA.

We will leave on Wednesday, stay the night in Las Vegas, drive the rest of the way Thursday, and the show is Friday-Sunday. It will be tons of fun, with just me & Royce and Kyle & Alex! As much as I love the shows, I think one of my favorite parts is actually staying at the hotel and swimming. So excited! But I need to go get a maternity suit!

Then it's back to real life. More work, more school, more internship, and a smattering of car shows on the weekends. But only for a few more weeks! My internship is only 5 more weeks, and then I leave for my annual Lake Powell trip! And daddy decided to spoil us this year and rent a houseboat! No more fighting with the tent and the boys! That will be nice.

46' Houseboat with all the amenities, including 3 beds, a kitchen, a bathroom, A/C, TV/DVD, etc.

Before I know it, it will be full-blown summertime, with car shows and baseball games filling up all my time... which I will finally have, being done with my internship!!

And then, again, before you know it, Hudson will be here. September is only 5 months away!!!

Fun weekend!

Just a quick picture wrap-up of a great weekend!

Saturday- Jelsco's car show

Saturday Night @ the Tavernacle

with Mike E & Kylee

Happy Birthday, Kylee!

Sunday- Living Planet Aquarium with the car club

Spin-the-wheel game, everyone else died of disease or as prey, but isn't it just fitting that I live to reproduce? Too funny!!

My prince on a frog

Lots of fun! Excited for the sunny weather and all it brings!
Got my aquarium today! LOVE IT! It's bigger than I expected! Can't wait to get it in place. I also started painting my chair this weekend. Nothing much, just a little bit of red, since it's the only color I had. But I did buy the rest of the colors, so I can do more whenever I am sitting at home with nothing better to do. All of a sudden, I am feeling behind. I am 17+ weeks along and I haven't bought nothing other than what we bought while trying to conceive. I want to spend, spend, spend!!! But at the same time, I want to wait. For one, I don't have anywhere to store it right now, for another, I know this kiddo is gonna be spoiled at his 4 or more baby showers, and lastly, because I want to wait for yard sales! Can't wait to bargain hunt for the rest of my furniture and miscellaneous items. And I'm lucky 'cuz Royce is the best bargainer around! So, I will continue to wait. At least for 5 more weeks. Once I've knocked this internship out, I will have more time to dedicate to baby stuff. So excited!!!

Party planning

I've been hard at work planning Mom's surprise party, and things are looking good! I originally sent out a mass email on Facebook, and got a good response, with a good variety of people planning to attend, including my 2nd cousin from Washington and he is bringing his mom, mom's favorite aunt! Now I am working on the mailer invitations. Definitely putting more time and money in them than I thought I would be, but I'm happy with them. Got the blank cards and now I'm just decorating them up with red and white and gingham "Going to Grandma's"-esque. They will each have a quote about grandmas on them. I will decorate the party room with red and white and picnic-y. They should hopefully be done tonight and in the mail tomorrow. Good thing too, since the party is in just over 3 weeks!! Now to look into food!

Rocking Chair

Every nursery needs a rocking chair. For awhile now, we've been looking for an old wooden one. Royce found it for $10 at a yard sale! I think it will be perfect! The wood on it is actually a really pretty cherry, but I want to paint it. BRIGHT. Really bright and Yellow Submarine-y! Like this one:

Only better!

my chair

Think I'll leave the flowery pattern and just paint the flower, leaves and flourish all different colors. I'll paint the four back posts different colors, each with a different Beatle on it. The four balls on top will be different colors too.

On the posts, I'll paint each of the bands a different color! It's gonna take some time and patience, but I'm excited to get started!!

Week 16

Been awhile, but here it is:

Gained- 8 pound, gradually.

How I feel:

  • Amazing. Beautiful. Some people complain about not feeling sexy, but I feel beautiful. Not sexy persay, but beautiful and womanly. Doesn't get more womanly than carrying a child!

  • I love my bump. Every morning, I wake up and embrace my tummy. I touch it throughout the day, wanting to protect and love it. For several years now, I've been self-conscious of my soft tummy, but now I absolutely love it. When little Hudson comes, I will be happy to have my arms full of baby, but will definitely miss my belly.

  • Phlegmy. I am so full of snot. I do not know how it is even possible! I'm miserable. Doc says its an ear infection and gave me Amoxicillin for 10 days. Hope it works!!!

  • Excited. Thinking more and more about life with baby!!

Nursery!

Just bought what I think of as one of the highlights of my nursery... the porthole aquarium!

I have been eyeballing this thing for over a year, just waiting until the right moment to purchase. And I finally did it! I found it online for $40 less than I've ever seen it. And now we know it's a boy. And now I'm ready to buy. And... my birthday is in 4 weeks. So it's ok if I do buy. So I did. Now I just need to wait til I finish my internship (6 weeks!) so I can start my baby room! :)

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

I imagine him with red hair. Always have. I know it's a recessive gene, and my mousey brown hair is more dominant, but I just want a red-headed baby boy so badly! Not even flame red, strawberry-blond would be perfect. And freckles. On his cheeks and shoulders. Poor kid will probably have daddy's complexion, albino-white except where it's red. He'll definitely be ALL boy, jumping in the mud puddles, rocks & bugs in his pockets, climbing on everything. He'll have his fair share of bumps and bruises, but he'll be tough, tolerant of pain like daddy. He'll have eyes like mine, not green, but not quite hazel either. He'll wear a lot of green to play them up. He will have the best smile, and he'll always wear it. He'll have a lot to smile about, lucky, loved little boy! I think he'll be a chub. I hope he'll be a chub! Babies should have squeezable little bodies. He'll always be short. Sorry, kiddo. I wonder if he will be outgoing like daddy, or shy like mommy was? (Yes, I really was, once upon a time...) I wonder what his favorite color will be. Daddy and I will nudge him towards red. I wonder if he'll like bugs or dinosaurs better? I wonder if he'll want to play baseball, soccer or basketball. We hope it isn't soccer! I hope he'll love fishing with Grandpa Perkins, hunting with Grandpa Beck, and building things with daddy. I hope he goes on all the scary rides with daddy, teasing mommy about being a chicken. But I hope he uses my caution when it's needed. I am so excited to see what his creative little brain will do! I wonder if he'll like school? Can I teach him to love reading? And how early will he be a better speller than daddy?! Can he bring home 100% tests like mommy did? Will we pay him for his grades? What kind of chores will he do, and what is the going rate for allowance?! What about baby-sitters?! I've got people begging already to babysit, but what about when he starts moving? Kids gonna move like crazy, just like daddy! And just 'cuz they're friends or family doesn't mean I shouldn't pay them... How hard is it gonna be to go back to work? I know my little man will be in the best hands with Grandma Perkins, but will I be capable of leaving? I've always thought so, but now I wonder. Will I be ok with her teaching him all those important things, seeing all his firsts? It scares me. She will be doing exactly what I would be doing with him (because I learned from the best!) but I worry that I'll be jealous that it isn't me. Will he love her more than me, because he seems to be with her more than me? All questions, thoughts that I've been thinking. 'Cuz I love this kid. I love my Hudson. I worry, then I get excited, then I worry more. And something makes me think it never goes away...

It's a Boy!!!

and we are so excited!!! Daddy can't wait to play legos and nerf and teach him to hunt and build cars! Mommy can't wait to snuggle her sweet little stud and watch him flirt!
