I want to be this teacher- NOW!

First time I've actually cried honest tears since all this craziness with job hunting. All because I so badly want to be this person that students admire, quote, love and mock. Love that the teacher is a first year and is highly sought after by the author! Considering bringing this article to future interviews...

ramblings...

So, I always say I have "nothing" to do at work, that I am bored. This is not entirely true... at all. In fact, I have a lot that I could do, should do. But I don't wanna. I need to update the class schedule and schedule it out to at least December and update the calendar books. This is a good project that should take at least 4-6 hours. It would make my day fly by. But I DON"T WANNA. So, I don't. And haven't in 2 months, though it should be done monthly if not bi-weekly. Eh. I don't wanna.
Instead, I read AOL news. Instead, I play Draw Something or Scramble on my phone. Instead, I browse Facebook or Pinterest. All of the above = waste time. Ridiculous.

So, my goal for next week is to DO IT. Get it done MONDAY. No excuses. It needs to get done, afterall, 'cuz I won't be around to do it for much longer, with any luck.

Had a few really good interviews this past week, one as a school counselor at North Park Elementary and then lots of different teaching positions in Ogden School District. I would LOVE the job at North Park! I feel so at home there, having attended and volunteered there throughout my childhood. I even know several of the teachers already. And so close to home!! I have a really good shot at at least one of the openings in Ogden because of my background with one of the principals- he was one of my instructors and he was always impressed with my work. Only thing is, it's Ogden. I am not familiar with the district expectations at all. I know they just went through a huge change, which is worrisome. Plus, the demographics are rough- lots of Spanish-speaking homes and little parental involvement. And it's a 6th grade opening, something I haven't prepared for at all- I'd have to re-learn the curriculum myself! But after talking with the principal and one of the other teachers, I think I could do it and really enjoy it. It seems like a place where I wouldn't be expected to fit "a mold"- I could be myself.

Anyways, with all these options, I am stressing at work, realizing the loose ends I want to wrap up before I go. Worrying about changing my whole life. I've been at University of Phoenix for 8 years! My next job, isn't just a "job"- it's my career- the beginning of everything I've worked for. HUGE. I am kind of in denial about it because it is so scary.
